Variant rental stock

Use variant stock when different sizes or models represent separate physical units. Duration variants and inventory variants solve different problems: a “7 days” option describes time, while a “Large” jacket may identify a separate stock pool.

Configure variant capacity

1. Prepare the Shopify product variants and confirm their names match the physical items.
2. Open the linked rental product in Rentshelf → Products.
3. Select the stock configuration appropriate for variants.
4. Review each Variant, Price and Units row and enter the real rental capacity.
5. Save and test the product page with each variant.

Use Total units available for a shared product pool when that matches the operation. Do not allocate the same physical stock independently to several variants unless those options really represent separate pools.

Verify availability

• Choose two variants with different capacity so a mistaken shared count is easy to detect.
• Request one unit, the intended full capacity and more than capacity.
• Repeat with dates overlapping an existing booking.
• Switch variants after choosing dates and verify the visible quote and final selection.
• Check the variant and quantity carried into the cart and booking details.

Rentshelf rental stock does not automatically synchronize physical quantities with Shopify inventory. Review both systems when products are also sold outright or when Shopify location eligibility is part of your setup.

Maintain the configuration

After adding a size, retiring a model or taking stock out of service, review the rental settings before accepting new bookings. Use blackouts for an unavailable period and CSV import for supported bulk updates.
