Google Calendar integration
Google Calendar is included in the Growth plan. Open Rentshelf → Settings → Google Calendar to connect the Google account used by your rental team.
Connect and choose a destination
Section titled “Connect and choose a destination”- Select Connect Google Calendar and approve access to the calendars used for rental operations.
- Choose the destination calendar that should receive Rentshelf booking events.
- Customize the event title with the available product, booking, units and variant tokens.
- Choose an event colour and save the calendar settings.
Existing upcoming bookings are included after connection. Storefront and manual bookings use the same synchronization workflow.
What Rentshelf synchronizes
Section titled “What Rentshelf synchronizes”- Each rental receives its own private Google Calendar event.
- Separate selected rental dates create separate events.
- Rescheduling a booking in Rentshelf updates its calendar event.
- Cancelling a booking in Rentshelf removes its event.
- Rental end dates are exclusive in Google Calendar.
- Changes usually synchronize within a few minutes. Use Sync now when you need an immediate refresh.
Edit bookings in Rentshelf. Editing or deleting a Google event does not change the rental booking.
Privacy and customer details
Section titled “Privacy and customer details”Rentshelf does not send Google Calendar invitations to customers. Customer name and email are excluded from private event descriptions unless you explicitly enable Include customer name and email in private event descriptions.
Block rental dates from another calendar
Section titled “Block rental dates from another calendar”You can map one rental product to a separate Google calendar. Busy events, including all-day events, then block the whole rental day for that product. Other products remain available.
Use a calendar that is different from the booking destination. Otherwise, Rentshelf’s own booking events could block the product that created them.
If Google cannot refresh a mapped calendar for 15 minutes, linked products pause availability until synchronization recovers or you remove the rule. This fail-closed behavior avoids accepting a rental while external availability is unknown.
Reconnect or disconnect
Section titled “Reconnect or disconnect”Reconnect when Google permissions expire or the selected account changes. The connection card shows the latest successful sync time and any action needed.
Disconnecting keeps existing Google events. Remove those events separately if the team no longer needs them.
Troubleshooting checklist
Section titled “Troubleshooting checklist”- Confirm the store still has an active Growth plan.
- Check that the destination calendar still exists and the connected account can edit it.
- Select Sync now and review the last synced time.
- Reconnect Google Calendar if the app reports expired or denied permission.
- When using a busy-calendar rule, confirm the product and calendar mapping are correct and use a separate destination calendar.
