Locations and delivery methods
Open Rentshelf → Locations to manage pickup points and warehouses. Rental availability is date-based and managed by Rentshelf; a Shopify location mapping is not automatic inventory synchronization.
Add a location
Section titled “Add a location”- Choose the add-location action.
- Enter Name and Address (optional).
- If the workflow needs a Shopify mapping, enter Shopify location ID (optional) for the matching Shopify location.
- Save and verify the location details.
Current allowances are one location on Free, two on Starter and unlimited on Growth. Optional Shopify location access is requested through the app when needed; approve the Shopify prompt only for the store you are configuring.
Configure the product’s delivery choices
Section titled “Configure the product’s delivery choices”- Open the rental product and enable Delivery methods.
- Add a clear customer-facing method name.
- Where available, select Method type: Label only (existing behavior), In-store pickup or Post / Shipping.
- Set Minimum preparation days and, where location choices are available, the Pickup point or Dispatch stock location.
- Save and test each method with rental dates on the storefront.
Preparation days control the earliest rental start. They do not reserve transit days or add a shipping fee. A label-only method records the customer’s choice; it does not select Shopify’s native pickup option. Shopify shipping charges must be checked at checkout.
Native Shopify pickup: current demo pilot
Section titled “Native Shopify pickup: current demo pilot”Location-specific stock allocation and the native pickup checkout pilot are currently limited to the Rentshelf demo store. Do not assume the location mapping alone enables this flow on every merchant store.
The pilot uses a mapped Shopify location with pickup configured in Shopify and eligible product inventory at that location. The product determines pickup versus shipping before checkout. It supports a one-rental-line test flow; arbitrary mixed carts and accelerated checkout combinations are not covered by that pilot verification.
If you want to evaluate this flow for your store, contact support with the product and delivery scenario. A line-item property saying “pickup” is not proof that Shopify applied native pickup. Confirm the actual checkout delivery method and resulting order.
