Rental product buttons

Rentshelf can control the customer-facing purchase buttons for linked rental products without changing normal Shopify products.

This is useful when a rental product should say Rent Now or Book Now instead of the theme’s default Add to cart, and when dynamic checkout buttons such as Buy it now should be hidden until rental dates, deposits, delivery options and add-ons are captured.

You can manage rental product buttons in two places:

  1. Rentshelf → Settings
    • Use this when you want one default button behavior across the store.
  2. Shopify Theme Editor → Rental Calendar Widget → Rental product buttons
    • Use this when one product template should override the app Settings default.

If Override app button settings for this widget is turned off in the Theme Editor, the widget follows the values saved in Rentshelf Settings.

SettingWhat it does
Rental button textRenames the theme Add to cart button for linked rental products. Examples: Rent Now, Book Now, Reserve.
Choose dates button textText shown when valid rental dates are required before the customer can add the rental to cart.
Theme Add to cart buttonChoose whether Rentshelf renames the theme button or leaves the theme button unchanged.
Dynamic checkout buttonsChoose whether to hide accelerated checkout buttons such as Buy it now on linked rental products.
Require valid rental dates before add to cartPrevents customers from adding a rental product before selecting valid rental dates.

For most rental stores, use:

  • Rental products: Rent Now
  • Dynamic checkout: hidden on rental products
  • Non-rental products: unchanged

This keeps the rental flow safe because customers choose dates and confirm rental details before checkout. Normal retail products keep the theme’s original Add to cart and dynamic checkout buttons.

These settings do not rename buttons for regular products that are not linked in Rentshelf.

They also do not delete or edit theme code. Rentshelf applies the behavior on the storefront only when the current product is an active rental product.
